The fossil forest of Dunarobba is one of the oldest woodlands on Earth.<\/p><p>The magical atmosphere of green Umbria never ceases to amaze. Nestled among its hills, just a short distance from Avigliano Umbro, lies one of the world\u2019s most important paleontological sites: the fossil forest of Dunarobba, dating back 3 million years. The uniqueness of this discovery lies in the fact that the trunks have retained their wooden structure\u2014making this site one of only three such examples in the world.<br \/>The visible parts of the trunks reach up to 1.5 meters in diameter and 8 meters in height.<\/p><p>In 1999, the Center for Plant Paleontology was established. In addition to supporting research activities, it also manages educational programs for schools. On the second floor, it houses a small museum that features a reconstruction of the ancient forest and the animals that inhabited it around 2 million years ago.<br \/>Unlike other similar sites around the world, the Dunarobba forest is open to visitors and easy to explore. Discovering this forest is like stepping back in time and walking through the magical history of our land.
