The only Bike Park in Italy open all year round, right in front off the Marmore Falls.
Battery Park is so named because during tne Second Word War was an outpost of the flak that would have it defend the city by bombing. But this did not happen, it suffered 101 bombing. A memory function are the name and small structures where the soldiers slept.
Recentely the town, full of trails, has been rediscovered by some local bikers who have turned it into a real bike park with 5 runs of varying difficulty distinguished by different colors: green for the newbies, the blue for the DH, the yellow,orange and white for the enduro.
All runs are approximately 2 km long with a vertical drop of about 300m. Ascents are made with buses on the road for a lenght of 3800m with ascent times of about 12 minutes.
All trails are marked and depart from clearing up the hill (where there was the anti-haircraft battery) and terminate in a single point equipped with racks and benches for waiting the buses for ascents.
The characteristics of this Natural Bike Park is that it is in the countryside and, reaching a maximum altitude of 450m above sea level, is open all year-round when other bike park located in the high mountains are impassable by snow.
In past year of the blue track DH competititions were organized with the partecipation of athlets from various nations.
Some local associations manage the maintenace of the slopes and lifts offer services and support on the slopes. MTB instructors also offer lessons for all those who are interested in living this experience adrenaline. Specialty stores also offer bike hire and specific protections that necessarily must be worn.
